OEKO-TEX® - Certification - Confidence in Textiles
The Grüezi bag sleeping bags are certified STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® for sustainable textile production.
When using sleeping bags, your skin comes into close contact with the sleeping bag materials. Therefore, textile safety is important to us. Certification according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® provides assurance that our Grüezi bag sleeping bags are safe products, unproblematic, and skin-friendly.

Our sleeping bags, which are certified with OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, are therefore 100% skin-friendly and allergy-tested.
What does “STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®” mean?
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is an independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products at all processing stages. The OEKO-TEX® label has strict requirements.
OEKO-TEX® aims to protect consumers from harmful substances in textile products and promote awareness of sustainable production.
Comprehensive product controls and regular company audits also ensure sustainable, global awareness among the industry regarding the responsible use of chemicals.
What is checked in the "STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®"?
In addition to the outer fabric and sewing threads, all accessories such as buttons, zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners, cords, as well as linings, embroidery motifs, interlinings, labels, prints, and other appliqués are inspected.
Based on its comprehensive and strict catalogue of measures encompassing several hundred regulated individual substances, the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® considers and verifies, among other things:
-
Compliance with important legal regulations such as prohibited azo dyes, formaldehyde, cadmium, nickel.
-
The testing for numerous chemicals that are harmful to health, even if they are not yet regulated by law.
- The extraction of harmful substances from the materials to be tested, as this is, in the eyes of the OEKO-TEX® Association, the most important aspect for clothing (possible contact with the skin and risk of absorption through it).
This takes into account that the more intensive the skin contact a product has and the more sensitive the skin, the stricter the requirements must be met.
It is particularly reassuring that the testing criteria are updated annually and the products are continuously monitored .
Who awards the OEKO-TEX® certifications?
The OEKO-TEX® Association, headquartered in Zurich, is the International Association for Research and Testing in the Field of Textile and Leather Ecology (OEKO-TEX® Association). It consists of a total of 18 independent textile research and testing institutes from Europe and Japan.
These renowned textile testing institutes conduct laboratory tests and monitor production and working conditions at the companies on-site through audits (factory visits).
The OEKO-TEX® Association offers a globally uniform, independent testing and certification system for textile raw materials, intermediate products, and finished products at all processing stages, as well as for the associated materials used.
Why are standardized textile pollutant tests necessary?
A consumer buys a sleeping bag and assumes it's safe. However, they can't be 100 percent sure because they can't judge the quality with the naked eye. Not even an expert can determine this without thorough laboratory testing.
Consumers expect the very best quality from our sleeping bags. The material should be soft and easy to care for, have long-lasting colors, and feel pleasant on the skin. This often requires certain chemicals. However, the residues from these treatments should, of course, not be harmful to health!
This is where pollutant testing comes into play to protect our customers.
From production to sale, many criteria for sustainable products must be considered – OEKO-TEX® certifications attempt to evaluate all aspects.
Textile products or materials certified according to an OEKO-TEX® standard are proven to be safe for human health. At the same time, they possess all the quality characteristics that we at Grüezi bag expect from our products.
Since there are different laws regarding textiles internationally, the OEKO-TEX® certification system certainly provides a little more confidence that neither the fabrics and yarns nor the buttons and zippers contain any substances that are harmful to health .
