temperature norms
What do the temperature standards mean?
There are three temperature ratings for sleeping bags: T-Comfort, T-Limit and T-Extreme.
- T-comfort is the lowest range in which the sleeping bag remains comfortable.
- T-Limit marks the point at which you start to shake.
- T-Extreme is the range where you won't freeze to death, but you can still get frostbite.
When choosing a sleeping bag, you should focus on the T-comfort value.
For example, if a sleeping bag has a T-comfort of 0 degrees, its temperature range is between 0 and approximately 15 degrees. This means that at 0 degrees it can already be cool, and at 15 degrees it can be too warm. The optimal temperature for comfortable sleep lies between these values.
In short:
The comfort value is not the most comfortable value, but rather the lowest point of the comfort range. From this point upwards, the sleeping bag becomes comfortable.
