High-quality sleeping bag for use down to freezing point

The "Biopod DownWool Ice" sleeping bag is the ideal companion for trekking, camping and mountain tours down to freezing temperatures or as a 3-season sleeping bag for those who are cold.

Grüezi bag® sleeping bags offer the best sleeping comfort and functionality

Grüezi bag sleeping bags have received numerous awards for their excellent insulation and well-thought-out designs.

  • DownWool® - the better down: Unlike conventional down, DownWool® retains its insulating properties even in high humidity of up to 90%. This means DownWool® offers better thermal performance, even in cold, wet conditions.
  • Wider temperature range: DownWool® sleeping bags have a wider temperature range in which you feel comfortable. Wool balances out temperature fluctuations.
  • Drier sleeping environment: The blend of 70% animal welfare-certified down (RDS-certified) and 30% wool from the Alps in DownWool® sleeping bags creates a dry, balanced sleeping environment. Wool effectively wicks away moisture and provides warmth even when damp.
  • Best sleep quality: Longer sleep, faster falling asleep and better sleep through the night – all this is possible thanks to the wool content in the DownWool® insulation filling
  • Well-thought-out cut for optimal freedom of movement: The comfortable cut allows the body to assume a relaxed position, ensuring a peaceful, restful sleep. Even in the mummy shape, you can sleep more soundly, as you can turn around both on your side with your leg bent and within the sleeping bag.
  • Avoidance of cold bridges: Our slightly wider cut reduces unpleasant cold bridges caused by compressed insulation
  • Lightweight and small pack size: ultra-light, robust and recycled materials save weight .
  • OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification: Grüezi bag® products are harmless to human health.

FEATURES

  • Pillow compartment:If you slide a fleece jacket, for example, into the pillow compartment, the sleeping bag has a non-slip pillow.
  • Adjustable hood with face baffle:The thermal baffle adapts perfectly to the shape of your head. When it's cold, only a small face hole remains open, thus reducing heat loss from the face.
  • 3D thermal collar: Closes automatically in the zipper area, so there is no cold bridge in the zipper area.
  • Drawstring pocket:To ensure that the drawstring on the thermal collar does not get in the way, it is safely stored in a simple drawstring pocket.
  • Inside & outside pocket: For valuables and things you prefer to keep close to you.
  • Zipper:
    • Two-way auto-lock zipper: The zipper can be opened and closed from either end, inside or outside. The auto-lock prevents it from opening accidentally.
    • White zipper: So you can find the zipper more easily in the dark.
    • Zipper with anti-snag zipper and lined robust webbing:This makes the zipper even easier to operate without pinching the outer fabric.
    • Zipper with lined zipper cover:so that heat cannot escape and no cold bridges are created.
  • Foot ventilation system:The innovative zipper design allows your feet to be comfortably placed on top of the sleeping bag and excess heat can escape.
  • Pre-shaped foot box: when lying down there is enough space in the sleeping bag to point your toes.
  • Feater loops: A warming hip bag with heating element (Feater - The Feet Heater) can be installed additionally.
  • Chamber construction: H-chambers, V-shaped (on the top), pre-shaped foot area with several chambers

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL®?

The special feature of this sleeping bag is its innovative insulation: In a DownWool® sleeping bag, you immediately notice the wide comfort temperature range—where you’re neither too cold nor too warm. Additionally, the insulation is naturally more resistant to high humidity.

This is achieved through a mechanical blend of 70% animal welfare-certified down (RDS-certified) and 30% wool from the Alps. This combination is patent-pending and acts like a light and natural climate control system.

Down: excellent insulation performance

High-quality down insulates exceptionally well while being very lightweight. However, down clumps together in high humidity (air, sweat, condensation) and loses its insulating properties. Grüezi bag solves this problem with the innovative DownWool® insulation.

Wool: effective moisture and temperature regulation

Thanks to the addition of wool in DownWool®, the down stays drier naturally and retains its insulating power. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture through its capillaries and gradually release it outward.

DownWool® continues to insulate even in up to 90% humidity. When wet, wool fibers stand upright, increasing loft (insulating volume) by up to 30%, further enhancing the sleeping bag's insulation.

DownWool® not only regulates moisture effectively but also body temperature. Wool prevents evaporative cooling and retains its warming properties even when damp—something no other material can do. Wool naturally creates a comfortable microclimate due to its unique climate-balancing properties.

The body needs a lot of energy to regulate temperature. Wool supports this process with its excellent thermal balancing ability and also neutralizes unpleasant odors.

The result: outstanding insulation and a wide comfort temperature range where you feel good and sleep well. DownWool® is also more resistant to moisture, making DownWool® sleeping bags from Grüezi bag® popular all-rounders.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Washing

  • Washing instructions can be found in the sleeping bag’s inner pocket.
  • The sleeping bag can be washed by hand or in a washing machine on the wool cycle at a max. of 30°C / 86°F using down detergent. Turn inside out, close the zipper, use an extra rinse cycle, and do not use fabric softener.
  • After the wash, loosen up the bag a bit and run another spin cycle at max. 600 RPM.

Drying

  • Tumble dry at a max. of 60°C / 140°F with 2–3 tennis balls for better loft.
  • Repeat the drying cycle several times. After each cycle, remove the bag, shake it out well, and let it cool down.
  • The dryer should be set to a timed program to ensure the down dries completely.
  • If not using a dryer, place the bag flat on a drying rack in the sun and shake it frequently to let air reach all sides.

When is the drying process finished?

If the sleeping bag hasn’t regained its original loft, repeat drying cycles until it feels fuller and puffier than before.
Depending on the outer fabric’s water resistance, drying may take at least 2 days (varies by dryer model).
Down must be completely dry. Improper drying may cause clumping and irreparable damage. Fully dried down feels full and thick. Damp down may smell, but this odor disappears when dry.

TIP

Dry down sleeping bags regularly or after every trip in a dryer with tennis balls to remove moisture.
Store sleeping bags open and dry in the storage sack.
When packing into the compression sack, stuff from the foot end—do not roll or fold.
Airing is better than washing. DownWool® bags rarely need washing due to wool’s natural odor- and dirt-repelling properties. For small stains, spot clean gently. Heavily soiled bags can be machine-washed.
Always use a sleeping pad under your bag, as insulation compresses underneath and loses its ability to trap air and heat. You can find more info on sleeping pads on the website here.

Elaborate H-chamber V-shaped construction

Lightweight baffles are sewn between the inner and outer fabric. These secure the down to prevent it from slipping. Furthermore, the baffle is V-shaped from right to left, which further prevents the down from slipping.

preformed foot box

The pre-shaped foot box gives you more space in the foot area, and there is no cold bridge as you don't touch the outer shell.

3D thermal collar

The all-round 3D thermal collar prevents heat from escaping from the sleeping bag.
