  • High-quality summer sleeping bag with high sleeping comfort

The "Biopod DownWool Summer 2.0" is the ideal trekking and biking sleeping bag for the best holiday season from late spring to early autumn and offers an excellent ratio of insulation to weight and pack size.

Grüezi bag® sleeping bags offer the best sleeping comfort and functionality

Grüezi bag sleeping bags have received numerous awards for their excellent insulation and well-thought-out designs.

  • DownWool® - the better down: Unlike conventional down, DownWool® retains its insulating properties even in high humidity of up to 90%. This means DownWool® offers better thermal performance, even in cold, wet conditions.
  • Wider temperature range: DownWool® sleeping bags have a wider temperature range where you feel comfortable. Wool balances temperature fluctuations like a light natural air conditioner.
  • Drier sleeping environment: The blend of 70% animal welfare-certified down (RDS-certified) and 30% wool from the Alps in DownWool® sleeping bags creates a dry, balanced sleeping environment. Wool effectively wicks away moisture and provides warmth even when damp.
  • Best sleep quality: longer sleep, faster falling asleep and better sleep through the night, all thanks to the wool content in the DownWool® insulation filling
  • Well-thought-out cut for optimal freedom of movement: The comfortable cut allows the body to assume a relaxed position, ensuring a peaceful, restful sleep. Even in the mummy shape, you can sleep more soundly, as you can turn around both on your side with your leg bent and within the sleeping bag.
  • Avoidance of cold bridges: Our slightly wider cut reduces unpleasant cold bridges caused by compressed insulation
  • Lightweight and small pack size:  ultra-light, robust and recycled materials save weight .
  • OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification: Grüezi bag® products are harmless to human health.

FEATURES

  • Pillow compartment : If you put a fleece jacket, for example, in the pillow compartment, the sleeping bag has a non-slip pillow.
  • Adjustable hood with face baffle : The thermal baffle adapts perfectly to the shape of your head. When it's cold, only a small face hole remains open, thus reducing heat loss.
  • Inside & outside pocket : For valuables and things you prefer to have close to you.
  • Zipper
    • Two-way auto-lock zipper : The zipper can be opened and closed from either end, inside or outside. The auto-lock prevents it from opening accidentally.
    • White zipper : So that you can find the zipper more easily in the dark.
    • Zipper with anti-snag zipper and sturdy webbing underneath : This makes the zipper even easier to operate without pinching the outer fabric.
    • Zipper with lined zipper cover  so that heat cannot escape and no cold bridges are created.
  • Foot ventilation system : The innovative zipper design allows your feet to be comfortably placed on top of the sleeping bag and excess heat can escape.
  • Pre-shaped foot box: when lying down there is enough space in the sleeping bag to point your toes.
  • Feater loops : A warming hip bag with heating element (Feater - The Feet Heater) can be installed additionally.
  • Chamber construction : H-chambers, V-shaped (on the top), pre-shaped foot area with several chambers
  • Scope of delivery : sleeping bag, compression bag, storage bag.

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL®?

The special feature of this sleeping bag is its innovative insulation: In a DownWool® sleeping bag, you immediately feel the wide temperature comfort range where you are neither too cold nor too warm. Additionally, the insulation is naturally more resistant to high humidity.

This is achieved through the mechanical combination of 70% animal welfare-certified down (RDS-certified) and 30% wool from the Alps. This patented combination acts like a lightweight and natural air conditioner.

Down: excellent insulation performance

High-quality down insulates exceptionally well at low weight. However, down clumps together at high humidity (air, sweat, condensation) and loses its insulating properties. Grüezi bag solves this problem with the innovative DownWool® insulation.

Wool: effective moisture and temperature regulation

Thanks to the addition of wool in DownWool®, the down naturally stays drier and thus maintains its insulating effect. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture through its capillaries and gradually release it outside.
DownWool® remains insulating at air humidity levels up to 90%. When moist, the wool fibers stand up and even increase the insulation loft by up to 30%, which further improves the sleeping bag’s insulation.
DownWool® not only effectively regulates moisture but also body temperature. Wool prevents chilling evaporation and retains its warming properties even when wet, which no other material can do. Wool naturally creates a cozy and pleasant microclimate through its unique climate-regulating property.
The body uses a lot of energy to regulate its temperature. Wool supports this process thanks to its excellent temperature-balancing qualities.
Additionally, wool neutralizes unpleasant odors.

The result: excellent insulation and a wide temperature range in which you feel comfortable and sleep well. DownWool® is also less sensitive to moisture, making Grüezi bag® DownWool® sleeping bags popular all-rounders.

CARE

Washing

  • The washing instructions are located in the sleeping bag’s inner pocket.
  • The sleeping bag can be washed by hand or in the washing machine on wool cycle at max. 30 °C / 86 °F using a down detergent. Please turn inside out, close the zipper, do an extra rinse cycle, and do not use fabric softener.
  • Remove the item from the machine, loosen it slightly, and run another spin cycle at max. 600 rpm.

Drying

  • Dry in a tumble dryer at max. 60 °C / 140 °F, and be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better loosening.
  • Run multiple drying cycles, removing the sleeping bag after each cycle to shake and fluff it up, allowing it to cool in between.
  • The dryer must be set to a timed program to completely dry the down.
  • If no dryer is available, the sleeping bag can be placed on a drying rack on sunny days and shaken frequently to allow air circulation from top and bottom.

When is the drying process complete?

If the item still does not have its original loft, the drying cycles must be repeated until the sleeping bag feels fuller than before.
Depending on the waterproofness of the outer material, drying time can vary (minimum 2 days, depending on dryer model).
The down must be completely dry. If the sleeping bag is not properly dried and fluffed, the down feathers may clump, which can irreparably damage the sleeping bag. You can tell the product is fully dry when it feels fuller and thicker than before. Damp down can smell unpleasant, but this odor disappears after drying.

TIP

  • Down sleeping bags should be dried from time to time or after every trip with tennis balls in the dryer to remove excess moisture.
  • Sleeping bags must be stored open and dry in the storage sack.
When packing into the compression sack, the sleeping bag should be stuffed with the foot end first, not rolled or folded.
  • Better than washing is airing out a sleeping bag. DownWool® sleeping bags only need to be washed rarely, since wool has natural odor-reducing and dirt-repellent properties. We recommend gently cleaning only the spots of small surface dirt (see above), while greasy and heavily soiled sleeping bags can be machine washed.
  • Under every sleeping bag should be a sleeping pad, as the insulation in the bottom of the sleeping bag is compressed and thus cannot store air or heat. More info on the right sleeping pad can be found here.
