High-quality sleeping bag for use down to freezing point

The "Biopod DownWool Ice" sleeping bag is the ideal companion for trekking, camping and mountain tours down to freezing point or as a 3-season sleeping bag for the cold

Grüezi bag® sleeping bags offer the best sleeping comfort and functionality

Grüezi bag sleeping bags have received numerous awards for their excellent insulation and well-thought-out designs.

  • DownWool® - the better down: Unlike conventional down, DownWool® retains its insulating properties even in high humidity of up to 90%. This means DownWool® offers better thermal performance, even in cold, wet conditions.
  • Wider temperature range: DownWool® sleeping bags have a wider temperature range in which you feel comfortable. Wool balances out temperature fluctuations.
  • Drier sleeping environment: The blend of 70% animal welfare-certified down (RDS-certified) and 30% wool from the Alps in DownWool® sleeping bags creates a dry, balanced sleeping environment. Wool effectively wicks away moisture and provides warmth even when damp.
  • Best sleep quality:Longer sleep, faster falling asleep and better sleep through the night – all this is possible thanks to the wool content in the DownWool® insulation filling
  • Well-thought-out cut for optimal freedom of movement: The comfortable cut allows the body to assume a relaxed position, ensuring a peaceful, restful sleep. Even in the mummy shape, you can sleep more soundly, as you can turn around both on your side with your leg bent and within the sleeping bag.
  • Avoidance of cold bridges: Our slightly wider cut reduces unpleasant cold bridges caused by compressed insulation
  • Lightweight and small pack size: ultra-light, robust and recycled materials save weight.
  • OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification: Grüezi bag® products are harmless to human health.

FEATURES

  • Pillow compartment: If you slide a fleece jacket, for example, into the pillow compartment, the sleeping bag has a non-slip pillow.
  • Adjustable hood with face baffle:The thermal baffle adapts perfectly to the shape of your head. When it's cold, only a small face hole remains open, thus reducing heat loss from the face.
  • 3D thermal collar:Closes automatically in the zipper area, so there is no cold bridge in the zipper area.
  • Drawstring pocket: To ensure that the drawstring on the thermal collar does not get in the way, it is safely stored in a simple drawstring pocket.
  • Inside & outside pocket: For valuables and things you prefer to keep close to you.
  • Zipper:
    • Two-way auto-lock zipper: The zipper can be opened and closed from either end, inside or outside. The auto-lock prevents it from opening accidentally.
    • White zipper: So you can find the zipper more easily in the dark.
    • Zipper with anti-snag zipper and lined robust webbing:This makes the zipper even easier to operate without pinching the outer fabric.
    • Zipper with lined zipper cover:so that heat cannot escape and no cold bridges are created.
  • Foot ventilation system:The innovative zipper design allows your feet to be comfortably placed on top of the sleeping bag and excess heat can escape.
  • Pre-shaped footbox: When lying down there is enough space in the sleeping bag to point your toes.
  • Feater loops: A warming hip bag with heating element (Feater - The Feet Heater) can be installed additionally.
  • Chamber construction: H-chambers, V-shaped (on the top), pre-shaped foot area with several chambers

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL®?

The special feature of this sleeping bag is its innovative insulation: In a DownWool® sleeping bag, you'll immediately feel the wide comfort temperature range, where you're neither too cold nor too warm. The insulation is also naturally more resistant to high humidity.
This is achieved through a mechanical blend of 70% animal welfare-certified down (RDS-certified) and 30% wool from the Alps. This combination is patent-pending and acts like a lightweight, natural air conditioner.

Down: excellent insulation performance
High-quality down insulates exceptionally well with minimal weight. However, down clumps when exposed to high humidity (air, sweat, condensation) and loses its insulating properties. Grüezi bag solves this problem with the innovative DownWool® insulation.

Wool: effective moisture and temperature regulation
Thanks to the addition of wool, the down in DownWool® stays naturally drier and thus maintains its insulating effect. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its weight in moisture through its capillaries and gradually release it outward.
DownWool® continues to insulate even in up to 90% humidity. The wool fibers lift when exposed to moisture, increasing loft and insulation by up to 30%, which further improves the sleeping bag’s performance.
DownWool® not only effectively regulates moisture but also body temperature. Wool prevents heat loss from evaporative cooling and retains warmth even when damp — something no other material can do. Wool creates a cozy, comfortable microclimate thanks to its unique climate-balancing properties.
Since the body uses a lot of energy to regulate temperature, wool helps reduce that energy loss due to its excellent thermal regulation.
Additionally, wool neutralizes unpleasant odors.

The result: excellent insulation and a wide comfort temperature range where you can sleep comfortably. Plus, DownWool® is more moisture-resistant, making DownWool® sleeping bags from Grüezi bag® popular all-rounders.

CARE

Washing

  • Washing instructions are located in the inside pocket of the sleeping bag.
  • It can be washed by hand or in a washing machine (wool cycle) at max. 30°C / 86°F using down detergent.
  • Turn the sleeping bag inside out, close the zipper, run an extra rinse cycle, and do not use fabric softener.
  • After washing, loosen it up and run another spin cycle at max. 600 rpm.

Drying

  • Tumble dry at max. 60°C / 140°F and add 2–3 tennis balls to help fluff up the insulation.
  • Perform several drying cycles. After each, take the sleeping bag out, shake it up, loosen it, and allow it to cool in between.
  • Use a time-based dryer program to fully dry the down.
  • If no dryer is available, lay it on a drying rack outdoors on a sunny day and shake it frequently so air reaches both top and bottom sides.

When is drying complete?

If the sleeping bag hasn’t regained its original loft, repeat drying until it feels fuller than before.
Depending on the outer fabric's water resistance, the process may take at least 2 days.
The down must be completely dry. If not properly dried and fluffed, the down may clump and irreversibly damage the sleeping bag.
You'll know it’s dry when it feels thick and full. Damp down may smell unpleasant, but the odor disappears once dry.

TIPS

Down sleeping bags should be tumble-dried with tennis balls from time to time or after every trip to remove excess moisture.
Store sleeping bags open and dry in a storage sack.
When packing into the compression sack, stuff the foot section first — do not roll or fold.
Airing out your sleeping bag is better than washing it. DownWool® sleeping bags rarely need washing due to wool's natural odor-neutralizing and dirt-repelling properties.
For minor stains, spot-clean gently. Heavily soiled bags can be machine-washed.
Always use a sleeping pad under your bag, as insulation gets compressed underneath and cannot trap warm air effectively. (More info on sleeping pads can be found here.)

Elaborate H-chamber V-shaped construction

Lightweight baffles are sewn between the inner and outer fabric. These secure the down to prevent it from slipping. Furthermore, the baffle is V-shaped from right to left, which further prevents the down from slipping.

vorgeformte Fußbox

The pre-shaped foot box gives you more space in the foot area, and there is no cold bridge as you don't touch the outer shell.

3D thermal collar

The all-round 3D thermal collar prevents heat from escaping from the sleeping bag.
