Lightweight summer sleeping bag with high sleeping comfort

Lightweight, compact, and climate-regulating – the " DownWool Summer Light " is the ideal sleeping bag for trekking, biking, camping, and overnight stays in huts from spring to fall. The innovative DownWool® filling combines down and wool for pleasant warmth even in high humidity. Perfect for travel during the best seasons, sustainably produced, and thoughtfully designed – for restful sleep.

Grüezi bag® sleeping bags offer the best sleeping comfort and functionality

Grüezi bag sleeping bags have received numerous awards for their excellent insulation and well-thought-out designs.

  • DownWool® - the better down: Unlike conventional down, DownWool® retains its insulating properties even in high humidity of up to 90%. This means DownWool® offers better thermal performance, even in cold, wet conditions.
  • Wider temperature range: DownWool® sleeping bags have a wider temperature range where you feel comfortable. Wool balances temperature fluctuations like a light natural air conditioner.
  • Drier sleeping environment: The blend of 70% animal welfare-certified down (RDS-certified) and 30% wool from the Alps in DownWool® sleeping bags creates a dry, balanced sleeping environment. Wool effectively wicks away moisture and provides warmth even when damp.
  • Best sleep quality: longer sleep, faster falling asleep and better sleep through the night, all thanks to the wool content in the DownWool® insulation filling
  • Well-thought-out cut for optimal freedom of movement: The comfortable cut allows the body to assume a relaxed position, ensuring a peaceful, restful sleep. Even in the mummy shape, you can sleep more soundly, as you can turn around both on your side with your leg bent and within the sleeping bag.
  • Avoidance of cold bridges: Our slightly wider cut reduces unpleasant cold bridges caused by compressed insulation
  • Lightweight and small pack size:  ultra-light, robust and recycled materials save weight .
  • OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification: Grüezi bag® products are harmless to human health.

FEATURES

  • Pillow compartment : If you put a fleece jacket, for example, in the pillow compartment, the sleeping bag has a non-slip pillow.
  • Adjustable hood with face baffle : The thermal baffle adapts perfectly to the shape of your head. When it's cold, only a small face hole remains open, thus reducing heat loss.
  • Small thermal collar:  Closes automatically in the zipper area, so that no cold bridge is created in the zipper area.
  • Zipper
    • Inside & outside pocket : For valuables and things you prefer to have close to you.
    • Two-way auto-lock zipper : The zipper can be opened and closed from either end, inside or outside. The auto-lock prevents it from opening accidentally.
    • White zipper : So that you can find the zipper more easily in the dark.
    • Zipper with anti-snag zipper and sturdy webbing underneath : This makes the zipper even easier to operate without pinching the outer fabric.
    • Zipper with lined zipper cover : so that heat cannot escape and no cold bridges are created.
  • Foot ventilation system : The innovative zipper design allows your feet to be comfortably placed on top of the sleeping bag and excess heat can escape.
  • Pre-shaped foot box: when lying down there is enough space in the sleeping bag to point your toes.
  • Feater loops : A warming hip bag with heating element (Feater - The Feet Heater) can be installed additionally.
  • Chamber construction : H-chambers, V-shaped (on the top), pre-shaped foot area with several chambers
  • Scope of delivery : sleeping bag, compression bag, storage bag.

WHAT IS DOWNWOOL®?

What makes this sleeping bag special is its innovative insulation: In a DownWool® sleeping bag, you’ll immediately notice the wide comfort temperature range—it never feels too cold or too warm. Additionally, the insulation naturally resists high humidity.

This is achieved through a mechanical blend of 70% RDS-certified down and 30% wool from the Alps. This combination is patent-pending and functions like a light, natural air conditioner.

Down: excellent insulation performance

High-quality down provides outstanding insulation at a low weight. However, in high humidity (from air, sweat, or condensation), down can clump and lose its insulating power. Grüezi bag solves this problem with the innovative DownWool® insulation.

Wool: effective moisture and temperature regulation

Thanks to the addition of wool, the down stays naturally drier and thus retains its insulating effect. Wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in moisture through its capillaries and gradually release it outward.
DownWool® remains insulating in up to 90% humidity. The wool fibers fluff up when moist, increasing loft and insulation by up to 30%, which further enhances the sleeping bag’s performance.
DownWool® not only effectively regulates moisture but also body temperature. Wool prevents cooling through evaporation and retains warmth even when damp—something no other material can do. Wool naturally creates a comfortable microclimate thanks to its unique temperature-balancing properties.
The body uses a lot of energy to regulate temperature. Wool supports this process with its excellent thermal-regulating abilities.
Wool also neutralizes unpleasant odors.

The result: excellent insulation and a wide comfort temperature range in which you can sleep well and comfortably. DownWool® is also more resilient to moisture, making DownWool® sleeping bags from Grüezi bag® popular all-rounders.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Washing

  • The washing instructions can be found in the inner pocket of the sleeping bag.
  • Wash the sleeping bag with a down detergent at a max. of 30 °C / 86 °F by hand or in the washing machine using the wool cycle. Turn inside out, close the zipper, run an extra rinse cycle, and do not use fabric softener.
  • Remove from the machine, gently loosen up the filling, and spin again at max. 600 RPM.

Drying

  • Dry in a tumble dryer at max. 60 °C / 140 °F with 2–3 tennis balls to help loosen the filling.
  • Repeat drying cycles as needed. After each cycle, remove the bag from the dryer, shake it well, loosen the filling, and let it cool between cycles.
  • The dryer should be set to a timed program to fully dry the down.
  • If no dryer is available, place the sleeping bag on a drying rack on sunny days and shake it frequently to allow air to circulate from above and below.

When is the drying process complete?

  • If the bag still doesn’t feel as thick as before, repeat the drying process until it feels even fuller than before.
  • Depending on the outer material’s water resistance, drying may take a minimum of 2 days, depending on the dryer model.
  • The down must be completely dry. If not dried and fluffed correctly, down can clump and permanently damage the sleeping bag.
  • You’ll know it’s dry when it feels thicker and fuller than before. Damp down may smell musty—this odor disappears once fully dry.

TIP

  • Down sleeping bags should occasionally or after each trip be dried with tennis balls in a dryer to remove excess moisture.
  • Sleeping bags should be stored open and dry in the storage bag.
  • When packing into the compression sack, stuff the sleeping bag foot-first—do not roll or fold it.
  • Air-drying is better than washing. DownWool® sleeping bags rarely need washing, as wool naturally resists odors and dirt. For small stains, gently spot-clean. If heavily soiled, machine washing is possible.
  • Always use a sleeping mat under the bag, as insulation beneath compresses and cannot trap air or heat. (More info on choosing the right mat is available here.)
